Austria offers filmmakers a wide range of funding opportunities that support creative projects from the initial idea through to realisation and strengthen the diversity of Austrian film culture.
FISA - Film location Austria
FILM in AUSTRIA is the national film commission in Austria. It supports international films and series in the areas of cinema, TV & streaming as well as Austrian TV and streaming productions with the ‘FISAplus’ funding programme.
bm:ukk FILM ART department
The Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport supports innovative projects in the fields of feature, documentary, animation and experimental film (development, production and distribution). There is also the opportunity to provide targeted support for up-and-coming filmmakers and individual filmmakers through grants, special programmes and prizes.
Film/TV agreement
Austrian Broadcasting supports the production of domestic cinema films with the ‘Film/Television Agreement’. The prerequisite for this is a funding commitment from the Austrian Film Institute or, as part of the promotion of innovation and young talent, from another Austrian film funding agency (federal ministry or federal states). Applications must be submitted to the Austrian Film Institute.
Austrian Television Fund
The ‘Fernsehfonds Austria’ of RTR Medien supports Austrian television productions (films, documentaries and series) by independent Austrian film producers.
Austrian Ecolabel
Productions that are produced in accordance with the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel ‘Green Producing in Film and Television’ receive special support. Film productions that save resources and take climate-friendly measures (especially in the areas of transport, waste and catering) can be awarded the Austrian Ecolabel.
